December 2020

Who do you want to be?

How do you want to care for yourself?

How do you want to care for others?

December is inviting us to come into contact with the child inside of us that is full of boundless joy, hope, and love. This month, we are being called to reconnect with the things in our lives that make us feel good—that light us up. Here, we get to practice living the life that we dreamed about before we encountered “no”s and the narratives of impossibility. Now is the time to reclaim the power that lies in your possibility. When we say “yes” to ourselves, we empower those around us to do the same. We are here to build a better world—collectively, this is what we were all born to do. The Page of Cups invites us to enact this new beginning together, stepping into the openness and strength that children display, full of excitement and observant curiosity—free from judgement and free from fear. Come back to the home inside of you that embraces joy and dreams of better things. The Page of Cups offers the wisdom that joy is not a small and simple emotion: it’s a radical force that enables us to make change and also leaves room enough to sit with the complicated experiences of life. We can feel pain and feel joy. We can be profoundly struggling while also feeling joyful. We can look at the inequities around us and step into the joy that empowers us to lift ourselves and each other up: this is the joy of possibility. This is the joy of being home in ourselves and home in the recognition of what is right. A better life is possible and we are here to make it. Treat those around you with love. Treat yourself with love. Be fierce in your protection of the connective beauty that makes life worth living. We are the caretakers of love, support, and kindness and we will not let these be squashed and judged into oblivion. Be gentle. Be kind. Allow yourself to be brimming with joy.
